Drew and Anna flew up for their sunrise session at the Lincoln Memorial – an ode to where Drew grew up.Drew and I grew up in the same youth group, but only really became good friends when we got to work together for a summer! I vividly remember him texting our group chat to break the news that he was dating Anna, and now they’re only 5 months away from getting married on New Years Eve in Greenville, SC (since they both went to USC)! ???? Shadi and I got the special privilege of talking them through their questions about our experience of getting engaged and married around their same age last summer while we were visiting Charleston. All that to say, we are so elated to celebrate their marriage for so many reasons, and we are expectant for the joyful of days come December 31!

How did you meet?
Drew and Anna met their sophomore year at the University of South Carolina. The first encounter was at a football tailgate. Drew and Anna met there briefly and while walking to the stadium to cheer on the Gamecocks, Drew asked Anna again what her name was. Funny thing is, he didn’t forget, he just wanted to talk to her. Throughout the next few football games they continued to get to know each other over blazing hot football games and half-time nachos. A few weeks later at Cole’s (see bridal party) birthday dinner, Drew showed up a little late to the Japanese restaurant, everyone was at and was seated right next to Anna. They chatted the majority of the dinner while Anna taught Drew how to properly use chop-sticks. After the dinner was over they kept each other on their love radar, but didn’t see each other for awhile. Christmas break rolled around and they found themselves texting and talking more, anxiously waiting to be back in Columbia. Once they both returned they got coffee one afternoon and talked for hours. The whole next few weeks they seemed inseparable. They went on their first planned date on January 16th. By February 5th they were officially dating!
How did Drew propose?
Drew told Anna he had to work out of town one Friday and wouldn’t be back until later that night. So Anna and her roommates planned on grabbing dinner and hanging out before their upcoming graduation. Long story short, Anna and her roommates were walking around the SC Statehouse and stopped to take a few pictures, little did Anna know Drew was right behind them. He snuck behind her and surprised her in a huge way! Drew had her read a letter he wrote her and when she turned around he was on one knee asking her one of the biggest questions of her life. Obviously, Anna said YES! The rest of the night was filled with friends, family, and so much excitement.
