After two weeks of being engaged, it still takes some getting used to calling Shadi my “fiance.” If you’ve never met Shadi, I wanted to introduce you to him!
Shadi is literally my number one fan. In more ways than this one, the way he serves me even as my friend is humbling and a challenge to me to serve my friends in the same way – to show up even in the midst of busyness, and to serve someone by listening.
One thing I remember early on in our relationship is how he told his small group of guys at JMU to “act interested, not interesting” in other relationships.
Shadi shows up and is truly interested in what uniquely gives nourishment to my soul as an individual.

Through sneakily planning a proposal, he woke up early with us just to hold bags and umbrellas and coats. (In other situations he’s held babies, suits, 2 camera bags… you get the idea).
If I could describe Shadi in one word, it would be a servant.
