The past month and a half has been incredible getting to plan a wedding of our own, but also surprisingly difficult. We didn’t realize how many decisions had to be made about each detail, which can be overwhelming when we were expecting for the process to be purely fun and exciting. Since we got engaged on April 2nd, we have already picked our venue, photographer, wedding dress, officiant(s), musicians, food, and cake (phew). There are already boxes of candles piling up in my house, and now we have leftovers of cake in the fridge from our caterer that we visited yesterday.
In the midst of all of these decisions, it has been so grounding to know that God has been leading us to this decision to pursue marriage, and at the end of the day on November 6th, we will have each other! When the ENFP personality type in me hates the idea of following through on all of the grand ideas in my head, I can rest in the fact that having everyone I love in one place will be so much more meaningful to me than a perfect, seamless wedding.
Yesterday we chased the never-ending rain to Harrisonburg to meet with our caterer, and even got some sun!
So instead of an extravagant meal and a movie, we spent our 3 year dating Anniversary doing things engagement style – samples of our wedding food for dinner, and samples of cake for dessert 🙂 We may have spent 4 hours in the car, but we were so thankful.
We even had a friend to ride with!
